This delicious sangria uses healthier ingredients, and has a popsicle bonus! It is a must try!!

Fruit + wine + popsicle = a trio made in heaven

When I thought of this whole Popsicle Sangria concept I thought “Wow, that sounds really freakin’ delicious. Wonder if I can figure out a way to make it as healthy as possible.”

I am happy to report that I did just that!

No, this is not a ‘healthy’ drink, but I did try to use ingredients that were as close to that as I could.

For example, most sangrias add a sugary liqueur (such as triple sec) in addition to the wine. This one uses orange juice instead.

Some also use a sugary soda (such as Sprite) to add bubbles. This one uses a sugar-free/artificial sweetener free berry sparkling water instead.

Orrrrrr, if you wanna take it to another level you can use champagne. Just sayin.

And obviously popsicles aren’t health food, but I used Outshine popsicles, which are more naturally made (yay!).

So in the spirit of trying to do things healthier, I present to you my healthy-ish Strawberry Basil Popsicle Sangria!

Here’s what you’ll need for this delicious sangria…

First, muddle the strawberries and basil together in a pitcher.

Then just add the rest of the ingredients (except for the sparkling water), and chill for about an hour.

Easy peasy!

Once chilled, pour glasses 2/3 full of sangria mixture, then top off with 1/3 unsweetened berry sparkling water (or champagne).

Now you’re ready to add the popsicle! Woot! I chose Outshine popsicles because they’re made with better ingredients than others. And they’re soooooo tasty.

Just float a popsicle in each glass. It will melt as it sits and that takes this sangria’s yum factor off the charts!!!!

Strawberry Basil Popsicle Sangria

  1. Muddle strawberries and basil leaves together in a pitcher

  2. Add remaining ingredients except for fruit bars

  3. Chill for at least one hour, then stir

  4. Fill a wine glass 2/3 full of sangria, then top off with either the sparkling water or champagne

  5. Float popsicle in glass and enjoy!

Hey! I’m Julie.

I help busy moms feed their families healthy foods in a lot less time.

I’m the founder of Well Fed Families, a mom of three kids who I had over the span of 21 years (I like doing things slowly sometimes), a lover of food, and an 80’s rock fanatic. I also dig jail shows and anything from the 1940s.

As you can tell from the above I’m a little weird. I‘m also a little funny (okay, sometimes a lot funny).

But one thing’s for sure…..I’ve been doing this healthy eating thing for my family for a loooooong time.

And most importantly? Moms who are feeling overwhelmed by that whole concept are my HEART! I want to help you in any way I can, because I know how hard it can be sometimes.

So take a load off and stay a while. I’m super glad you’re here. <3

Psst…before you leave be sure to grab the free cookbook below! It’s my little way of saying thanks for checking out Well Fed Families….
