How to Fall Asleep Quickly - 9 Natural Insomnia Remedies That Work

If you have ever been in the position where you are battling sleep, you know that it is NO fun.

Lack of sleep can make you a total grumpypants the next day. Or even worse.

It makes it hard to focus, can lower your immunity, and it can even be dangerous if you have to drive.

But what the heck do you DO when you just can’t fall asleep?!

Here are some natural insomnia remedies that really work….

Melatonin: This hormone normally made by the pineal gland in the brain controls your sleep and wake cycles. Supplementing with melatonin tablets can assist in getting you to sleep, and keeping you asleep longer.

Cal-Mag: This supplement made from Calcium and Magnesium works great as a sleep aid, and has no side effects. Why do you think grandma always made you a glass of warm milk to help you sleep? 😉

Lavender Oil: Diffusing some lavender oil into the air is calming and can help induce sleep. You can also make a lavender linen spray for your sheets by diluting it in water.

Raw Honey: Just 1 to 2 teaspoons of raw honey before bed can encourage sleep due to its calming properties.

Tea: Lemon balm, Passionflower, Valerian, and Chamomile are great choices to calm the system and get the body ready for sleep.

Warm Bath: Taking a warm bath before bed relaxes the muscles and puts the body in a restful state.

Tart Cherry Juice: An ounce of tart cherry juice mixed with 6-8 oz of water and some natural sweetener can help you fall asleep AND stay asleep longer.

Brain.fm: This website works with your brain waves to encourage good sleeping patterns. I LOVE it and fall asleep to it every night.

Ignore the Clock: I have found this to be the BIGGEST help where staying asleep is concerned. NEVER look at the clock when you wake up during the night. Getting into the cycle of I only have ‘____’ hours left to sleep creates anxiety that is counterproductive to getting back to sleep. It doesn’t matter if you have four more hours or four more minutes. You don’t need to know what time it is until your alarm goes off!!

Give some of these a try the next time you can’t get to sleep. I bet you’ll be surprised at how well they work!
