27 Natural Stress Relievers

Oh stress. I hate your guts.

When I get stressed I hold it in my shoulders until they’re so tight that it feels like someone is holding a blowtorch to them.

UGH.

Sometimes stress seems to rule our life, doesn’t it?

We all know how dangerous it is. Mental and emotional stress can lead to many physical problems, some of them serious.

The good news is that there are many natural ways to relieve stress. The biggest is following a healthy diet. When your body is supplied with all of the vitamins and minerals it needs, it is naturally better equipped to handle stressors in life.

But sometimes we still find ourselves in a particularly stressful situation and need some additional help.

Here are some natural stress relievers that really work….

Stress Reducing Foods

All of these foods contain vitamins, minerals, or amino acids that reduce stress from the inside out.. Reach for these the next time you’re feeling stressed.

  • blueberries
  • avocado
  • cashews
  • dark chocolate
  • salmon
  • spinach
  • green tea
  • oranges
  • asparagus

Stress Reducing Supplements and Herbs***

These supplements are known stress reducers. Having these handy can help immensely the next time stress strikes.

I have also had fantastic results with Calm Now, which contains a variety of calming ingredients. I take two tablets every night before bed and it really seems to keep me on a much more even keel.

Other Stress Relieving Practices

Taking just a few minutes to try one of more of these can go a long way towards relieving stress.

  • Take a bath (preferably with some candles)
  • Have some tea (bonus points if it’s Valerian, Chamomile, or Lavender!)
  • Meditate. Take just a few moments to close your eyes, lower your shoulders, and just concentrate on your breath. There are also some great guided meditations available on YouTube. Some are as short as two minutes.
  • Try a few yoga poses. Head to YouTube and give a couple a try. They work WONDERS.
  • Step outside. Regardless of the temperature the fresh air will do you good. Bonus points for going for a short walk.
  • Make some stress-reducing water. Just float some lime, cucumber, strawberry, and mint in a glass/pitcher of water and enjoy. An infusion pitcher is a great option for this!
  • Read or watch something funny. It’s really hard to stay stressed when you are watching one of those videos of a baby laughing!!

Regardless of where your stress is coming from, the important thing is that you take a moment to acknowledge and address it in one (or more) of the ways above.

This will keep it from getting the best of you, and is much better for your health in the long run.

So take a few minutes and address the stress.

It’s so worth it.
